Biscriptality

Biscriptality is the simultaneous use of two (or more) writing systems (including different orthographies) for (varieties of) the same language.

This specific type of language situations is the subject of the collective monograph Biscriptality: A sociolinguistic tyoplogy (Bunčić et al. 2016), which was prepared by the participants of a conference at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in September 2011.

This website presents our sociolinguistic concept of biscriptality, the conference and the monograph. Apart from that, it will monitor further developments in this area.
